چکیده

Microorganisms producing alkaline phosphatases are wide spread in nature. Alkaline phosphatase (Orthophosphoric monoester phosphohydrolase, E.C.3.1.3.1) is a hydrolase enzyme functioning at alkaline pH. The metalloenzyme containing the two zinc ions are involved in catalysis whereas the magnesium ion is important in structural stabilization (Simpson et al., 1968; Anderson et al., 1975). The enzymatically active alkaline phosphatase hydrolyzes phosphates from many types of molecules like nucleotides, proteins, alkaloids, phosphate esters and anhydrides of phosphoric acid. Alkaline phosphatases play an indispensable role in phosphate metabolism and the production of alkaline phosphatase is regulated by the phosphoester compounds available in the International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 4 Number 3 (2015) pp. 384-396 http://www.ijcmas.com

The ‘known’ genetic potential for microbial communities to degrade organic phosphorus is reduced in low‐pH soils

In soil, bioavailable inorganic orthophosphate is found at low concentrations and thus limits biological growth. To overcome this phosphorus scarcity, plants and bacteria secrete numerous enzymes, namely acid and alkaline phosphatases, which cleave orthophosphate from various organic phosphorus substrates. Using profile hidden Markov modeling approaches, we investigated the abundance of various...

Nucleotide sequence of the gene for alkaline phosphatase of Thermus caldophilus GK24 and characteristics of the deduced primary structure of the enzyme.

The gene encoding Thermus caldophilus GK24 (Tca) alkaline phosphatase was cloned into Escherichia coli. The primary structure of Tca alkaline phosphatase was deduced from its nucleotide sequence. The Tca alkaline phosphatase precursor, including the signal peptide sequence, was comprised of 501 amino acid residues. Its molecular mass was determined to be 54¿ omitted¿760 Da. On the alignment of ...

Alkaline Phosphatase in Bone Tumours

Many tissues contain enzymes which will hydrolyse the organic phosphorus compounds to give free phosphoric acid. These enzymes are known as phosphatases. Some of these phosphatases are most active in an alkaline medium and the others in an acid medium. The phosphatase of bone (Yamane, 1931), bile (King and Armstrong, 1934) and white blood cells (Roche, 1931) are alkaline phosphatases, while tho...

Acid and alkaline phosphatases in their relation to malignant disease.

Acid and Alkaline Phosphatases There are probably many different phosphatases present in living organisms and much valuable data is being accumulated on their identity and methods of differential estimation. In the present state of our knowledge, however, and from the aspect of clinical application, we can best think of them in terms of two groups, the socalled' alkaline ' and' acid' phosphatas...

Purification and properties of two membrane alkaline phosphatases from Bacillus subtilis 168.

Two alkaline phosphatases were extracted from the membranes of Bacillus subtilis 168 stationary-phase cells and purified as homogeneous proteins by hydroxyapatite column chromatography. Alkaline phosphatases I and II differed in several properties such as subunit molecular weight, substrate specificity, thermostability, Km, pH stability, and peptide maps.
